Watch the 2013 film “Her” (Links to an external site.) (available on Netflix) written and directed by Spike Jonze. Note: The film is rated R for language, sexual content, and brief nudity. After watching the film, write a brief essay describing some of your thoughts and perspectives on the interactions between science, technology, culture, and society. In particular, discuss the following topics in your essay: What elements of the film did you find to be most believable (in terms of technological capabilities and interactions between humans and technology in the not too distant future)? Why? Did any technology systems and/or uses of technology depicted in the film resemble technology systems and/or uses of technology currently used in real life? What elements of the film did you find to be most far-fetched (in terms of technological capabilities and interactions between humans and technology in the not too distant future)? Why? How do you think science fiction impacts and shapes the development of future technologies and/or cities? Describe at least one other example from movies, television, and/or literature in which the technologies/themes in science fiction ended up shaping the development of future technologies/societies.
