Need help with marketing response to reasoning people to have maintained brand awareness

The pay phone is a good example Matt. Perhaps many of you are too young to remember Cabbage Patch kids as one of the “IT” toy of the 1980’s. Maybe its me but it seems like they just won’t go away. They have been re-marketing several times (talking, porcelain heads, baby versions) and have truly lived the 5 stages of the product life cycle more than once (some cycles were just longer than others). If I remember, they had something to do with the 1992 Olympics and recently GEICO has used them in one of their insurance ad’s. ;

What do you think is the reason these doll’s have maintained ;some brand awareness?
