I am curious about how long it takes for man made zonation to start taking affect on species in the different zones. For example, if we put a highway through an ecosystem, the species inhabiting the zone with a shared perimeter with the highway would have to be able to find their mates despite the loud highway noise pollution.Would these species adapt new way to adjust to increased noise pollution and exponentially higher stress levels? Or would they simply show a decrease in their population size until a species with a higher fitness to that zone takes it place?
