Organizational Policies and Practices to Support Healthcare Issues

; ;

Quite often, nurse leaders are faced with ethical dilemmas, such as those associated with choices between competing needs and limited resources. Resources are finite, and competition for those resources occurs daily in all organizations.

For example, the use of 12-hour shifts has been a strategy to retain nurses. However, evidence suggests that as nurses work more hours in a shift, they commit more errors. How do effective leaders find a balance between the needs of the organization and the needs of ensuring quality, effective, and safe patient care?

In this Discussion, you will reflect on a national healthcare issue and examine how competing needs may impact the development of polices to address that issue.

To Prepare:

· Review the Resources and think about the national healthcare issue/stressor you previously selected for study in Module 1.

· Reflect on the competing needs in healthcare delivery as they pertain to the national healthcare issue/stressor you previously examined.

DISCUSSION POST: ;

Post an explanation of how competing needs, such as the needs of the workforce, resources, and patients, may impact the development of policy. Then, describe any specific competing needs that may impact the national healthcare issue/stressor you selected. What are the impacts, and how might policy address these competing needs? Be specific and provide examples.

Research the delivery, finance,management,and sustainability methods of the U.S. health care system

Research the delivery, finance, management, and sustainability methods of the U.S. health care system. Evaluate the effectiveness of one or more of these areas on quality patient care and health outcomes. Propose a potential health care reform solution to improve effectiveness in the area you evaluated and predict the expected effect. Describe the effect of health care reform on the U.S. health care system and its respective stakeholders. Support your post with a peer-reviewed journal article.

Week 5 Community Practice Experience Journal Reflection

What are your upcoming week’s specific learning goals and objectives as a Case Manager? What is your upcoming week’s detailed schedule at your community practice experience placement? Were there any placement items/issues that occurred this week that you feel your instructor should be aware of that are private in nature and are more appropriately shared here than in the discussion board with your classmates? Give a brief description of an objective you worked on this week. Make sure to cite at least one reference showing how your objective relates to the public health knowledge you’ve studied during this course or the public health course. You may choose to reference your e-text, journal articles, or videos you’ve studied during these courses or you may find an outside reference on your own to further enhance your public health knowledge and practices.

Remember, your journal entries are an important aspect of clinical learning as they serve to help you reflect upon and get the most out of your community practice experience. Therefore, your journal entry should include the who, what, where, and when of your community practice experience. Remember, this should simulate a dialogue that would normally take place face-to-face with your community practice experience instructor.

Directions must be followed precisely

Please review the attached Rubric

Details:

;

In this assignment, learners are required to write a case report addressing the personal knowledge and skills gained in this course and potentially solving an identified practice problem.

General Guidelines:

Use the following information to ensure successful completion of the assignment: This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion. Doctoral learners are required to use APA style for their writing assignments. The APA Style Guide is located in the Student Success Center. This assignment requires that at least two additional scholarly research ;sources related to this topic, and at least one in-text citation from each source be included. You are required to submit this assignment to Turnitin. Please refer to the ;directions in the Student Success Center.

Directions:

Construct a 2,500-3,000-word (approximately 10-12 pages) case report that includes a problem or situation consistent with a DNP area of practice.

Requirements: Use a minimum of any two theories discussed in the course to develop the case report. Apply one or more theories to describe understanding of the problem or situation of focus. Apply one or more theories to the recommended intervention or solution being proposed. Develop the case report across the entire scenario from the identified clinical or health care problem through proposing an intervention, implementation, and evaluation using an appropriate research instrument. Describe the evaluation of the selected research instrument in the case report. Lastly, explain in full the tenets, rationale for selection (empirical evidence), and clear application using the language of the theory within the case report.

In addition, your case report must include the following: Introduction with a problem statement. Brief literature review. Description of the case/situation/conditions explained from a theoretical perspective. Discussion that includes a detailed explanation of the synthesized literature findings. Summary of the case. Proposed solutions to remedy gaps, inefficiencies, or other issues from a theoretical approach. Identification of a research instrument to evaluate the proposed solution along with a description of how the instrument could be evaluated. Conclusion.

Why is understanding the health care system at the local level important to consider when planning an EBP implementation? Conduct research and solicit anecdotal evidence from your course mentor that you will take into consideration for your own change project.

Experiment 1: Design an Experiment LAB

;Materials 100 Beans (10) 5 x 8 in. Bags Permanent Marker Masking Tape *Paper Towels *Water Note: You must provide the materials listed in *red. EXPERIMENT 1: DESIGN AN EXPERIMENT The following experiment is to be designed by you with the beans provided in the kit. You will design and execute the experiment to test factors that influence seed germination. Whatever your experimental design, be sure to include controls, both positive and negative, and make sure it is reproducible! NOTES ABOUT BEAN GERMINATION • The time to germinate will decrease if you soak the beans overnight before beginning the experiment. • It may take 7 – 10 days for the beans to “sprout.” • Make sure the paper towels remain moist for the duration of your experiment. PROCEDURE 1. Identify 10 – 20 variables that may affect seed germination. Record the variables in Table 5. 2. From your list of variables, select one to test. Form a hypothesis regarding why this variable affects seed germination. 3. Determine the positive and negative controls for your experiment. 4. To germinate the beans, place one folded paper towel into the 5 x 8 in. plastic bag. The paper towel should be moistened, but not soaking wet. Place ten beans in a horizontal line on each enclosed paper towel. Then, seal the bag completely. 5. Prepare three bags of beans for each condition (positive control, negative control, variable). 6. Use masking tape to hang each bag in the environment you select. 7. Collect data, and then create a table, including title, units, and any other useful information. 8. Select the appropriate type of graph, and report the data you collected. 9. Write a lab report for this experiment. ;

;

Instructions: Read the following experiment and download the lab report template form supplied below.
Once you have completed your experiment and gathered all required data, upload the completed lab report ;and save a copy for your own reference and safe-keeping. Also, along side your lab report submission record and submit ;a brief (1 to 2 minute) video on your experiment/observation experience summary. For example, how did you ;feel while ;performing this experiment, what was the difficulty level, any obstacles you may have run into, etc..
